California Food Company Restrained from Producing and Distributing Adulterated Food by Court

  • Reading time:1 mins read

Cali Rice Valley Inc., along with its general manager, violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) by manufacturing and distributing adulterated food products, exposing them to contamination with disease-causing bacteria.

A federal court has issued a permanent injunction, prohibiting Cali Rice Valley from manufacturing, processing, packing, holding, or distributing adulterated food articles. The company and the government have agreed to a consent decree to settle the lawsuit.

The consent decree, entered by the court, resolves the allegations without determining liability. This action reinforces the importance of food manufacturers ensuring the quality and safety of their products, with the Justice Department and FDA collaborating to hold violators accountable for laws designed to protect public health.
