Nearly 300 Patients Tied to North Carolina Sushi Restaurant Outbreak

  • Reading time:1 mins read

Sushi Nine in Raleigh, North Carolina, faces 241 complaints of foodborne illnesses, suspected to be caused by norovirus. The outbreak, starting on Nov. 28, has rapidly expanded, with an additional 100 reported cases since Dec. 9.

Wake County Public Health and Wake County Environmental Services are actively investigating the norovirus outbreak at Sushi Nine. The restaurant closed for two days for thorough cleaning, and health officials are collaborating with customers, staff, and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to identify the outbreak’s source and extent.

While the restaurant has reopened after cleaning measures, health authorities emphasize the ease of norovirus transmission, particularly during holiday gatherings. Ongoing collaboration and investigation are essential to contain the outbreak, ensure public safety, and prevent further cases linked to Sushi Nine.
