FDA Urges Caution in Using Sammy’s Milk Goat Milk Formula for Infants

  • Reading time:2 mins read

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently advised Sammy’s Milk, located in Newport Beach, CA, to issue a warning regarding the use of its toddler formula as an infant formula. Expressing concerns over potential safety and nutritional adequacy issues, the FDA emphasized the necessity for clear communication regarding product suitability.

During a meeting with Sammy’s Milk officials, the FDA highlighted representations on the company’s website and social media platforms that could misconstrue the product as suitable for infants. Specifically, the agency cited worries that the formula might not meet the stringent requirements set for infant formulas, potentially posing risks to infants’ health.

In response, Sammy’s Milk reiterated that its product is expressly formulated for children aged 12 to 36 months, a fact prominently displayed on both packaging and online platforms. The flagged product, bearing the lot code SD348 and a “Best by” date of August 2025, was exclusively distributed online.

In an official statement endorsed by the FDA, the company emphasized the critical importance of adhering to the recommended age range for consumption. It explicitly cautioned against using Goat Milk Toddler Formula for infants under 12 months of age, urging consumers to discontinue such usage. Sammy’s Milk emphasized its commitment to addressing consumer inquiries and concerns, directing individuals to contact their customer service team for further assistance.

This development recalls a previous recall in 2016, where Sammy’s Milk recalled all lots of its Baby Food due to the potential presence of Cronobacter bacteria. Known to cause severe and sometimes fatal infections, especially in infants, this incident highlights the importance of stringent safety measures in infant nutrition products.

For clarity on appropriate usage guidelines or further inquiries, consumers are encouraged to reach out to Sammy’s Milk customer service at info@sammysmilk.com.

By issuing this cautionary notice, both the FDA and Sammy’s Milk aim to prioritize consumer safety and ensure informed decision-making regarding infant nutrition choices.
